Estimates

An estimate is a priced proposal for a project. It tells a particular person what you are offering and what it will cost. Open the project and choose New estimate.

Prepare the offer

Choose Prepared for, then add line items with quantities, prices and any tax. Add from a package brings in a service's current price and deposit rule. Later package changes do not rewrite the estimate.

You can set a discount, deposit percentage, balance due date and an Offer open until date. Review the total and recipient before sending.

Send and receive an answer

Send to client fixes that version and emails the recipient a link to their client page. Drafts remain editable; sent versions retain exactly what the client saw.

The addressed client can accept the sent estimate or decline with a note. Other people on the project cannot answer on their behalf. An expired offer cannot be accepted.

Change or withdraw an offer

Use Revise to make a new draft from a sent or declined estimate. The old version stays on record, and the client waits for you to send the replacement before accepting. Void withdraws an unaccepted estimate. An accepted estimate cannot be revised or voided.

After acceptance

Open the accepted estimate and choose Create invoice. The invoice copies the agreed prices, discount and tax, and turns the deposit and balance into its payment plan. Acceptance itself is not a payment or a confirmed session.
